Frequently asked questions

How does the bike-finder quiz work?

You answer 20 plain-English questions — the same ones a good bike-shop salesperson would ask about where you ride, how far, what you'll carry and what you're willing to spend. Every answer scores every bike in the catalog, and at the end you get the five that fit your answers best, with prices, key specs and a link to each bike's full page.

How are the five bikes actually chosen?

By matching your answers against the real specs of every bike in the catalog: motor power, battery capacity, top speed, weight, payload, tire type, suspension, frame style and price. Deal-breaker questions — the ones where a wrong bike simply won't work for you — count double. The five highest scorers are what you see.

Are the results sponsored or paid placements?

No. Nothing in the scoring is bought, and no brand can pay to appear in your top five. What is true, and worth saying plainly: the buy links on the results are affiliate links, so a purchase earns us a commission at no extra cost to you. That's how the site pays for itself, and it doesn't touch the matching.

Does the quiz only include bikes Ben has reviewed?

No — it matches you against the whole catalog, which is bigger than the list of bikes with a full video review. Open any result's page to see which it is: reviewed bikes carry Ben's video, a Cave Score and his verdict, and the rest are spec pages with buying info and no invented opinion.

Why does it ask for an email?

So your results can be sent to you and your progress saved if you don't finish in one sitting. That's it — you get your matches, not a daily newsletter you didn't ask for. If you'd rather not hand over an address, browse by category or use the compare tool instead.

What if none of the five feel right?

Retake it and answer the budget and terrain questions differently — those two move the results the most. Or skip the quiz entirely and go by category, then put your shortlist head to head in the compare tool to see the specs side by side.
