Hiboy P6
A hard-tail fat-tire e-bike with a 750W Bafang hub, 26 x 4 tires, a 9-speed drivetrain and a battery in the frame. Ben’s read: simple, low-cost to own and more capable than a $1,000 bike has any right to be.

What Makes The Hiboy P6 Tick

Motor & Battery
Bafang 750W hub, 48V in the frame
Bafang 750W hub
Ben could not find a torque figure and guesses about 80 Nm from how it climbs and holds speed.
Battery in the frame
A 48V pack with a button that shows the charge in blue. Hiboy now lists 48V 11.6Ah, where Ben’s bike was 13Ah.
Throttle and pedal assist
The throttle ignores the assist level. Ben says power from pedalling is smooth and arrives about half a second after you start.

Frame & Suspension
Hard tail, 80 to 100 mm fork
Hard tail
“Bomb-proof” and nothing to maintain at the back. Ben says to let a few PSI out of the 4-inch tires for comfort.
Suspension fork
Compression, lockout and preload, which Ben says is all you need to take the edge off bumps.
Short, adjustable cockpit
Ben flipped the stem to put the bars higher and says there is plenty of adjustment in the steerer.

Brakes & Tires
Cable disc brakes, 180 mm, Chaoyang 26 x 4
Cable-actuated discs
180 mm rotors. Ben gives the feel 5 out of 10, but they stopped him with about 5 ft to spare from roughly 26 mph.
Chaoyang off-road tires
Super grippy on pavement and sand. Ben says deflate a little for comfort.
No fenders in the box
Ben did not receive fenders with his bike and could not tell from the site whether there is an option.

The Bike Cave Verdict
Ben’s Take
I am very impressed at how this $1,000 fat tire e-bike is performing today.
As far as comfort goes, I’d give this bike an 8 out of 10. It’s not perfect, but there is a ton of adjustability.
The P6 is for someone that wants a low-cost bike. And I mean that in two ways: it’s low cost to entry, low cost to own.
Ben did not give this bike a Cave Score in the review, so there is no number here.
What I liked
- Not speed-limited: 35 mph downhill and 27.7 mph unlocked on the GPS
- Strong enough for a 15% hill at 12 to 14 mph
- Smooth pedal assist and a 9-speed drivetrain that is easy to pedal
- Very little to maintain: no rear shock, no hydraulic fluid
- Comfortable saddle and a short, adjustable cockpit
- Grippy tires on pavement and sand
What to know
- Cable-actuated brakes: Ben gives the feel 5 out of 10
- No fenders came with Ben’s bike
- Nothing high-end: monochrome display, no hydraulic brakes, no rear suspension
- About half a second of delay on the throttle and when pedalling
- Battery is now listed at 11.6Ah, smaller than Ben’s 13Ah bike
- Ben did not test range
