What Makes The Tonnerrey T8 Tick

Motors & Battery
Two 1,500W hubs, 60V 15Ah or 30Ah
One button for dual motor
Button 1 or 2 on the left bar switches between rear only and both motors, and the screen shows which is on. Ben saw 12 mph on one motor and 22 mph on two up the 15% hill.
60V battery in the frame
Pick 15Ah or 30Ah. Ben tested the 30Ah; at about 15 miles it was around half full and still pulled 28 mph.
Detailed throttle
“Every eighth of an inch I just get another little percentage.” The cadence sensor kicks in after about half a revolution.

Frame & Suspension
Hard-tail steel frame, dual-crown fork
Hard tail
No rear suspension. Ben says to drop the tire pressure for comfort, as low as 15 PSI, though it can cost some top speed.
Dual-crown fork
Not much travel and no adjustment. “It’s there to basically take a little bit of the bumps out.”
Passenger seat and pegs
The rear seat and pegs come off with four bolts. Ben says the long seat could carry a small passenger in front and one behind.

Brakes, Tires & Cockpit
Two-piston 180 mm hydraulics, unbranded fat tires
Two-piston brakes
180 mm rotors. From 28 mph on a cold, wet road Ben stopped right on the 20 ft marker.
Unbranded tires
Ben thinks they are rebranded: “mediocre at everything,” but they gripped on frozen ground and sand.
What it leaves out
No front turn signals, no brake light and no brake power cutoff, and the grips do not lock on. Ben says to swap them first.

The Bike Cave Verdict
Ben’s Take
The bike just feels very buttoned up, very well put together. There’s nothing that’s rattling on here.
I was looking for faults with this bike. The electronics is not one of them.
A good battery will keep you going at full power at top speed for a long, long time.
Ben did not give this bike a Cave Score in the review, so there is no number here.
What I liked
- A switchable second motor: 22 mph up a 15% hill against 12 on one
- Throttle with fine control and a quick cadence sensor
- Stopped from 28 mph on the 20 ft marker in the cold and wet
- Still pulled 28 mph at half battery
- Removable passenger seat and pegs
- Phone holder, lock, mirrors and fenders in the box
What to know
- No brake light and no brake power cutoff
- Grips do not lock on and turn easily
- Monochrome screen with no battery percentage or voltage
- The front motor spins the wheel out in the top power mode
- Hard-tail frame bounces off-road
- Tall seat with sharp edges for pedalling
Frequently asked questions
How fast is the Tonnerrey T8?
Tonnerrey claims 28 mph. Ben saw 28 mph on his GPS on the dual-motor bike and felt the power cut off there. Pedal assist 5 alone topped out at 26 mph on the rear motor.
How far does the T8 go on a charge?
Tonnerrey claims 80 to 120 miles. Ben was 15.2 miles in at about half battery with the dual-motor 30Ah bike, and says about 30 miles is the worst case when riding fast. Single-motor mode can double that.
How well does the T8 climb hills?
On a 15% hill Ben managed about 12 mph on the rear motor and 22 mph with both motors. At half battery the dual motors still held 21 to 22 mph.
Can the T8 carry two people?
Yes. It has a long seat, a removable passenger seat and removable pegs, and Ben says a second motor helps when carrying a passenger.
What is the Tonnerrey T8 missing?
Ben’s list: no brake light, no brake power cutoff, no front turn signals, grips that do not lock on and a monochrome screen.
Is there a discount code for Tonnerrey?
Yes. Use TBC150 on the dual-motor T8. Ben’s channel list also shows TBC120 for the single-motor T8. Enter the code at checkout through our Tonnerrey link.
