Throttle only on the flat test island, against a quoted 28 mph. “How refreshing is that? A company that undersells their bike.”
Throttle only up the steepest hill on the route, holding 13 to 14 mph the whole way. “And I didn't go below 12. Wow.”
Slammed to a stop on damp, leafy pavement — inside the 20 foot marker. “Well, there you go Velotric, you have done it again. Perfectly suited brakes.”
Launched from the light pole, hit 20 before my driveway marker. “20 miles an hour in a pretty short distance. That's really nice. And then it just wants to keep going.”
Full boost, pedal assist 5, barely pedaling. That works out to roughly 20–25 miles throttle-only, or 30+ with pedaling and lower power modes — well under the 75 mile spec.
Display checked against a phone GPS speedometer at 16 to 19 mph. “18 on the bike, 18 on the speedometer. It is bang on, so we can trust this.”
About these numbers: I ride at about 190 lb with all my gear on, the brake test ran on damp, leafy pavement, and the display was verified against a phone GPS speedometer before trusting any of the speeds. Range figures come from a real 11-mile check in full boost, not the brochure.

The Discover 2 is one of the nicest commuter-style ebikes I've ever had on the channel — for bike quality I'm giving it a solid 9.5 out of 10. Everything feels tight and quality, it's UL and ISO certified, and how refreshing is a company that undersells their bike: they claim 28 mph and it goes a little over. The brakes stopped me from 28 mph within my 20 foot marker, the hill climb never dropped below 12 mph, and the motor is just super smooth. Velotric wanted this to be the most comfortable commuter ebike on the market right now, and I think they nailed it — whether you want a quality commuter, can't decide between a cadence and torque sensor, or you're a smaller rider.

👎 What to know
- Real-world throttle-only range is about 20–25 miles, far under the quoted 75 mile spec
- Slick 2.4 in tires don't have a ton of grip on gravel and won't do well on the beach
- Headlight looks pretty little, though it's punchy
- No rear suspension on the hardtail frame — comfort relies on the cushy sprung seat
