The Engineering

What Makes The Wallke Ravager R60 Tick

Wallke Ravager R60 direct-drive hub motor

Motor & Power

60V direct drive, 4,000W peak

Silent Direct Drive

Ben: “One of the smoothest and quietest 60 volt direct drive motors I've ridden in probably ever.” You hear the tire on the asphalt before you hear the motor.

Speed, Not Launch

It took a while to get there, but he saw 40 mph on the GPS at almost 200 lb against Wallke's 44 mph claim. Acceleration is smooth rather than quick.

Torque Sensor

The pedals feed a real torque sensor, so light pedalling gives a little help and hard pedalling gives a lot. He still calls it weighted to the throttle.

Wallke Ravager R60 frame battery

Battery & Charging

60V 70Ah, over 4,200 Wh

Key-Lock Pack

The 70Ah battery sits in the down tube and comes out with the key. A 60V 12.5A charger fills it in five to six hours, by Wallke's numbers.

Real-World Range

After 26 miles of riding around his area Ben had one of five bars left. He projects around 125 miles and did not run a full range test, so treat Wallke's 75 to 180 mile claim as a range, not a promise.

Five-Bar Display

The screen is bright in full sun but shows only five battery bars, speed, assist level and odometer. No percentage, voltage or range estimate.

Wallke Ravager R60 front brake

Chassis & Brakes

Inverted fork, air shock, big calipers

Brakes

Dual-piston calipers on 203 mm rotors that are 2.8 mm thick. Ben stopped from 28 mph in about 16 feet, with room for another bike in his 20-foot box.

Suspension

An inverted fork with compression adjustment, and a rear air shock with no rebound, compression or valve. Ben: it “just feels like I'm riding a cloud.”

20×5 Tires

Some of the widest tires he has ridden, run at about 25 psi. Quiet and grippy on the road, but they ride on the surface off-road.

The Cockpit

One Piece Stem, Bars And Screen

Sleek, but you can't change it

The display is built into a one-piece stem and handlebar. Ben likes the clean look with no cables, but points out the cost: you can't fit higher-rise bars without a new stem, bars and display, and the seat has no rail to slide. At 5'9" he leans forward more than he'd like.

Controls are simple: a full twist throttle with a thumb guard, a hydraulic lever, and a remote with plus, minus, walk mode, lights and info. There are three assist levels, which he thinks is plenty. Power is smooth and silent, and he let go of the bars at 25 mph with no wobble.

Size & Fittings

Will It Fit You?

  • R60S step-through5'2" to 5'11" (Wallke)
  • R60C step-over5'5" to 6'7" (Wallke)
  • Max loadAbout 400 lb
  • WeightAbout 150 lb (Ben)
  • Wheels20" x 5" front and rear

At 5'9" Ben is on his toes and cannot flat-foot the step-through, because the seat is very wide. He found the bike roomy and the reach long: the integrated stem pushes the bars forward, he leans forward more than he'd like, and he doesn't buy that the step-through is the one for smaller riders. Bars and seat position can't be changed.

The Bike Cave Verdict

Ben's Take

“If you're like me and you enjoy a really nice long bike ride on a comfortable cruiser bike that's silent, that has power when and if you need it, and a massive battery that'll never ever give you range anxiety, come look at this bike. The look is polarizing. I'm really, really impressed by this R60. I love how quiet the direct drive motor is back there. I love how smooth the power delivery is. This is a cruiser through and through: massive tires, super comfortable seat, really nice detailed throttle. This is as good as it gets for a bike like this.”
Ben — The Bike CaveFull verdict in the video review

Ben did not give the R60 a Cave Score in the review, so there is no number here.

👍 What I loved

  • “One of the smoothest and quietest 60 volt direct drive motors I've ridden in probably ever”
  • 40 mph on the GPS at almost 200 lb, against a 44 mph claim
  • About 16 feet to stop from 28 mph, “a full bike” of room to spare
  • Suspension that “feels like I'm riding a cloud”
  • Seat he could “be on for hours” and quiet, grippy 20x5 tires
  • Torque sensor that feels natural, and no wobble at 25 mph hands-off

👎 What to know

  • Stem, bars and display are one piece, so no handlebar swaps; the seat does not slide either
  • Display has five battery bars only: no percentage, range or voltage
  • No turn signals, and the rear air shock has no adjustment at all
  • Ships in two boxes; Ben also had to re-seat the rear tire bead before it ran true
  • Not an off-road bike: the tires ride on the surface of dirt
  • Awkward to pedal; it is weighted to the throttle. About 150 lb
