Heybike Ranger S

Heybike’s US store on October 13, 2026 lists one Ranger S, the Ranger S 2.0, from $999 with a 750W motor (1,400W peak) in black. Ben’s numbers below are for the 1,000W original. Our closest reviewed alternative is the Heybike Ranger 3.0 Pro.

What Makes The Heybike Ranger S Tick

Motor & Controls
1,000W rear hub, torque sensor, colour LCD
1,000W hub, 1,800W peak
Heybike sold two Ranger S models, 750W and 1,000W. Ben rode the 1,000W with 100 Nm of torque. “I have never seen a little folding bike with such a powerful motor.”
A torque sensor that feels natural
“If you pedal lightly the bike just gives you a little bit of power.” Heybike fits the torque sensor to the 1,000W version only, and Ben says to look for one if you buy a bike to pedal.
Colour LCD
Speed, assist level 0 to 5, trip, odometer, max and average speed, plus the battery voltage, which Ben calls far more accurate than the five bars.

Frame, Fold & Suspension
Folding aluminium step-through, hydraulic fork
Folds in a few steps
Fold the pedals, take the kickstand off, release the bracket, lay the bike down and fold the stem. “Super easy.”
Hard-tail frame, 400 lb limit
No rear suspension, and the rear of the frame is beefy enough for a 400 lb total load. The rack comes pre-installed.
Quiet, tight hinge
“Nothing on this bike, everything feels tight, everything feels quiet.” Ben says it is one of the few folders he has reviewed without creaks.

Brakes & Tires
RSX two-piston hydraulics, 20 x 4 CST tires
RSX hydraulic discs
Two-piston calipers on 180 mm rotors, with reach adjustment and mineral oil. “I think these are even too much brake for this bike.”
CST tires, mediocre everywhere
“These CSTs are a good middle ground, but they’re mediocre at everything.” Ben would fit road slicks for commuting or knobbier tires for gravel.
Mag wheels
One-piece mag wheels with no spokes, so they never need truing.

The Bike Cave Verdict
Ben’s Take
The overall quality of this bike is very, very high. This is a premium folding bike.
The 750 W version of the Ranger S is for pretty much anybody who wants a good quality folding e-bike under 1,000 bucks.
If you live in an area where there’s lots of hills, invest that extra couple hundred bucks and get the more powerful motor. You’ll thank me later.
Ben did not give this bike a Cave Score in the review, so there is no number here.
What I liked
- Premium, tight build with no creaks in the folding hinge
- A torque sensor Ben calls responsive and natural
- Strong for a folder: 18 to 19 mph up a 15% hill and about 30 mph on the GPS
- Hydraulic brakes with plenty of bite
- Colour LCD that shows battery voltage
- Folds to fit a trunk or back seat, with a 400 lb load limit
What to know
- CST tires are mediocre on road and off. The front wheel locked up on a wet road
- Ben did not run a range test in this video
- The 1,000W version is sold out; the Ranger S 2.0 is the 750W bike
- A saddle that looks odd, though Ben says it is very soft
Frequently asked questions
Is the Heybike Ranger S still for sale?
Not the 1,000W version Ben tested. On Heybike’s US store on October 13, 2026 the only Ranger S listed is the Ranger S 2.0, from $999, with a 750W motor (1,400W peak) in black.
How fast is the Heybike Ranger S?
Heybike advertised 32 mph. Ben saw about 30 mph on his phone GPS and 32 mph on the bike’s speedometer, and felt the power cut out right at the limit. He says that is still higher than most folding bikes.
How well does the Ranger S climb hills?
Ben held 18 to 19 mph up a sustained 15% hill, throttle only, in assist level 5. He says most bikes he rides there manage 12 to 16 mph.
How big is the Ranger S battery and how far does it go?
A removable 48V 14.4Ah pack (692 Wh), charged by a 4A charger in 3 to 4 hours according to Heybike. Heybike claimed up to 55 miles. Ben did not run a range test in this video.
Should I buy the 750W or the 1,000W Ranger S?
Ben’s answer in the video: the 750W suits anyone who wants a good folding e-bike under $1,000, and the 1,000W, with its torque sensor and 100 Nm, suits hilly areas and riders around 200 to 250 lb. The 1,000W version is no longer sold.
Is the stranger-and-battery Short from this video?
Yes. “I NEED HELP!” on Ben’s channel is the clip of him helping a rider re-seat a Ranger S battery, cut from 29:57 of this review.
