Centre Of The Bike

A German Brose TF Sprinter mid-drive puts the weight low and central for balanced, natural handling that hub bikes can't match.

Quiet & Natural

A Brose-integrated torque sensor meters power to your effort, and the motor is famously quiet under load.

28mph Class 3

A 36V 504Wh Phylion/Samsung pack drives it to 28mph over 30–50 miles.

Shimano 9-spd · Enviolo + Gates

9-Speed Chain

The XR/ST chain build runs a 9-speed Shimano Alivio with a MicroShift Advent derailleur.

Enviolo Stepless CVT

The LX/LS belt build pairs a Gates carbon belt with an Enviolo Trekking stepless hub — no gears to shift, nothing to grease.

Maxxis Rubber

Maxxis Rekon Race 27.5×2.25in tyres roll fast and grip loose surfaces.

100mm Air Fork

A 100mm air suspension fork with lockout is a step up from the coil forks on cheaper bikes.

Tektro Hydraulics

Tektro HD-M745 hydraulic discs on 180mm rotors give strong modulation.

Commuter-Ready

Integrated 80-lux lights, fenders and a 40 lb rear rack are all included.

The Drivetrain

Chain Or Belt-CVT

Brose mid-drive · Enviolo Trekking · Gates CDX carbon belt

The Prodigy V2 is the rare sub-$3k bike offered with a proper Gates carbon belt and an Enviolo stepless CVT hub. There are no gears to index, no chain to oil, and you can shift while stationary — ideal for stop-start city riding.

Prefer the traditional feel and the lower price? The 9-speed Shimano chain build covers the same Brose mid-drive platform for less.

The Bike Cave Verdict

Ben's Take

The Prodigy V2 is the value mid-drive. A German Brose TF Sprinter with 90Nm gives you the low, central weight and the quiet, natural, torque-sensed ride that hub-motor bikes just can't replicate — and Ride1Up sells it from $2,395, which is remarkable for a Brose bike. The killer option is the belt-CVT build: a Gates carbon belt and an Enviolo stepless hub means no shifting, no chain oil and no fuss, which is exactly what a daily commuter wants. The 504Wh battery is modest and it's integrated rather than removable, so range and charging are the compromises. But as an introduction to how much nicer a good mid-drive feels, this is the cheapest ticket in. Full ride review to come.
