The Bike Cave Verdict

Ben's Take

The Level 4 REC is the value pick in the Level 4 range, and for a lot of riders it'll be the smart one. Instead of the ADV's mid-drive, you get a strong 750W hub that peaks at 1188W (1440W in Boost) with 80Nm — genuinely punchy — plus a 733Wh battery for up to 75 miles, hydraulic brakes with an e-cutoff, and the A280 display with ACU smarts, all for $1,799. That's $800 less than the ADV. You give up the mid-drive balance, electronic shifting and the longest range, but you gain a cheaper, punchier bike. I haven't ridden it on camera yet, but on paper it's the sensible-money Level 4. Full review to come.
